What is All-on-6?
All-on-6® is a full-arch dental implant approach. Six implants are placed in the upper or lower jaw to support a fixed set of replacement teeth, where that design is clinically appropriate. Because the replacement teeth are supported by implants rather than resting on the gums, they are not removed for cleaning and do not rely on denture adhesive.

How All-on-6 differs from other implant treatments
The difference between these approaches is the number of implants used and how the replacement teeth are supported. None is automatically better than another — the appropriate design is determined by your evaluation.
- Single implant and crown — replaces one missing tooth without preparing the neighboring teeth.
- Implant-supported bridge — a planned number of implants supports several teeth in a row.
- All-on-4® — a full-arch design planned around four implants.
- All-on-6® — a full-arch design planned around six implants, which may distribute support differently across the arch.
Whether four implants, six implants, or another configuration is recommended depends on bone volume and quality, the shape of the arch, bite forces, gum health, and the restoration being planned.
Who may be a candidate?
An evaluation for full-arch implant treatment may be useful if you have lost most or all of the teeth in an arch, are scheduled to have the remaining teeth in an arch removed, or wear a full denture that is loose or uncomfortable.
Candidacy is not determined by the technique alone. It depends on an examination, imaging, gum health, available bone, medical history, medications, bite forces, and your goals for fixed or removable teeth. Some patients need periodontal care or other preparatory treatment first, and some are better served by a different option.
What to expect about timing
For appropriate patients, full-arch implant treatment may allow a temporary fixed set of replacement teeth to be placed as part of the treatment process, so that you are not left without teeth while healing. Timing and treatment recommendations depend on the individual evaluation, bone support, oral health, and treatment plan. The final restoration is completed later, once your dentist determines the implants are ready to support it. There is no single timeline that applies to every patient.
Caring for implant-supported teeth
Implant-supported teeth are cleaned daily much like natural teeth, with attention to the area where the restoration meets the gums. Implants cannot develop cavities, but the surrounding gum and bone can develop inflammation or disease, so regular professional maintenance matters. No restoration lasts forever; components can need repair or replacement over time.
